How Many Weight Watchers Points In A Can Of Sardines

Weight Watchers has revamped its points-based weight loss program to include foods with no points. Zero points! The change even has Oprah Winfrey excited. And the best news of all? Seafood is a zero points food! Read on to learn more about Weight Watchers ZeroPoint™ foods, including seafood like salmon, tuna, oysters, and more. Counting points never tasted so good!

People who lose weight through Weight Watchers are able to do so in part because of the program's flexibility. With SmartPoints®, dieters do not need to deprive themselves of "unhealthy" foods and can plan a healthy, adaptable diet that works for them.

Weight Watchers ZeroPoint™ Foods - How Does it Work?

Weight Watchers, or WW, is one of the most well-known diet plans in the US. It uses points ("SmartPoints®") to keep track of how many calories a dieter has consumed that day. Instead of counting calories or banning higher-calorie foods altogether, dieters get a "budget" of daily SmartPoints® that they can deduct from as they see fit (pun intended). To calculate this budget, Weight Watchers assigns a number to every food and drink out there. Just keep track of your points, and try not to go over. There's even a bit of wiggle room: dieters get weekly points in addition to daily points as a cushion, and unused weekday points can be rolled over into the weekend. The addition of ZeroPoint™ foods in recent years, Weight Watchers opted to add quite a bit of flexibility to its program by changing the way it assesses certain foods. Now, under Weight Watchers' Freestyle™ plan, more than 200 foods are no longer assigned points, thus reaching "ZeroPoint™" status. The idea is that, since Weight Watchers ZeroPoint™ foods are high in protein, relatively low in calories, and naturally filling, dieters can fill up on them without consuming too many calories or depleting their SmartPoints® budget. The best part? In addition to fruits, vegetables, and some meats, Weight Watchers ZeroPoint™ list includes seafood. Salmon has zero points, lobster has zero points, and crab has zero points -- oh my!!

Weight Watchers Celebrity Heroes

If you're considering trying Weight Watchers' ZeroPoint™ system, you're in good company. Oprah Winfrey herself has famously lost weight through the program and gone on to sing its praises. Here is what she said: Oprah Winfrey, on Weight Watchers' Freestyle™ program:"[It's] simpler. More livable. Love that I don't have to count so many of my favorite foods, like corn and beans." -- As quoted in USA Today

How to Replace a Kitchen Faucet

CCO/kaboompics/Pixabay

Kitchen faucets are probably one of the most used fixtures in homes. Many times a day the water is turned on and off, leading to quite a bit of wear and tear on this hardworking fixture. If your faucet has seen better days, or is out of style, you can replace it with a shiny new version using just a few tools. Exchanging your old kitchen faucet with a new one can transform the look and functionality of your kitchen in just a couple of hours.

Tools you'll Need

Have all the necessary tools for this DIY project lined up before you start to save yourself time and frustration.

  • New Faucet
  • Channel locking pliers
  • Basin wrench
  • Plumber's Putty
  • Adjustable Wrench
  • Flexible supply lines
  • Tape Measure

Before Starting

Turn off the hot and cold water shut-off valves. they're usually located in the cabinet that's under the sink. Then open up the faucet to relieve pressure.

Removing the Old Faucet

  • Step One: Using an adjustable wrench and a pair of channel locking pliers, disconnect both the water lines from the faucet. If the supply lines are old, or the gaskets are worn out, you may want to replace them with flexible supply lines.
  • Step Two: Using a socket wrench or basin wrench remove the nut that is holding the faucet tailpiece assembly in place. Sometimes it's difficult to loosen old faucet nuts, in that case try soaking the threads with penetrating oil and try again.
  • Step Three: If your sink has a line that connects the hose to the faucet you can disconnect this.
  • Step Four: Pull the old faucet out and clean the sink's surface making sure to remove any rust or caked on debris.

Installing the New Faucet

  • Step One: Using the measuring tape, measure the distance, from center to center, of the outside holes of your sink. This is to make sure the new faucet will fit. Since all faucets are slightly different, read any installation instructions that come with your new faucet. Follow all manufacturer's pre-assembly instructions and place the optional flange over the faucet opening.
  • Step Two: Seal the new faucet. If you're using a gasket, place the gasket on the lip of the plate and thread the hoses through. If using plumber's putty, apply it around the base of the faucet and set the faucet in place.
  • Step Three: Under the sink you can now thread on the flange and nut using a socket or basin wrench.
  • Step Four: If you're using pull-out faucets, a weight needs to be added that will retract the pull-out spray.
  • Step Five: Now it's time to attach the supply lines to the faucet and then to the shut-off valves. Cold water connects on the right and hot water on the left.
  • Step Six: Turn on the water and check for leaking. If you find any leaks you'll need to tighten the connections on the water supply line.

Bathroom Phone Charger

Bathroom Phone Charger

Just thinking. I use a fitbit, and I got into the habit of charging it every few days when I had a shower. (charging it every few days, not having a shower every few days!)

Is there something i can use inside the bathroom to give me a standard 5v USB socket?

Of course you can get a single socket with a usb in it, but cant use that in the bathroom.
Could I take a supply from the shaver socket, but would it have to come from the output side of the transformer?
Could I use a regular plug in usb charger with European pins and plug it into the shaver socket?

Any thoughts?

could you not charge it in the bedroom or hall way .

littlespark

  • #3

That's what I have been doing, Buzz... but I forget sometimes and the Fitbit dies and doesn't record anything.

It was really just a question out of interest.

You could use a blank 1 gang plate and put a usb module in. I believe mk sell such a thing.

You can get them I saw some the other day with just one point on them but didn't take much notice, provided it is out of the zones I presume they are okay.

That is not OK unless it is SELV, which it does not appear to be....

Here's an MK one.

I don't know if they are non isolating transformers they use but it's not good for Russians by the looks of things.

That's what I was thinking of, @westward10 , 50 quid is a bit steep though.

I found similar on amazon but with 4 outlets and a lot of Chinese writing on the back, but I didn't think it would be decent quality.

I didn't like the thought of something being plugged into the shaver socket for too long.
(I would unplug after using it, but I dont think anyone else in the house would)

You need to be careful I know the British Safety Council did tests on a lot of these usb points and loads failed, at least with MK you know they are SELV.

This explains the 2 pin on my electric toothbrush.
(Soon converted for an electricity free bathroom)

Did I read on the forum somewhere that shaver sockets are designed for shavers only and not toothbrushes??
Seems pointless having toothbrush chargers with 2 pins then?

The MK ones show a toothbrush and a shaver. You are correct as some do not have continuous rated transformers and can overheat.
Seems the MK part I showed is just a module which fits to a euro plate.

Depends on your phone. Inductive chargers are fine for bathroom.
Tin hat on, as I know some will be unhappy with this...

when in Germany last year when in a upmarket air bnb there was a wireless charging pad on both the coffee table and another in the kitchen work top.
Took a look and were both selv you can buy little attachments like a power bank that plugs into a phone or similar device so it can charge wirelessly.
In theory you could have one on the tiles on a bathroom and put a little attachemt onthe fitbit and it will charge. Dont see an issue if its selv and well made.

It is a Fitbit which requires a hard and not wireless connection.

You could get a little device to plug onto it to use the wireless charge pad though

Can you not just plug it into one of them USB power banks that you can buy?

He could, and he does. But he wants it IN the bathroom, and there are some challenges to doing that!

Shove whole combination in a polythene bag .

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
I'm going with a 2 port euro module similar to the mk one mentioned earlier.

Just need a nice long lightning cable so I can charge my phone and play games on it while sitting on the throne.

Do look back at the thread. The MK module is one of the few SELV USB products.
Cheaper ones may not have this essential safety feature and are not permitted in bathrooms.

Or bin the fitbit get trainers run till your knackered, walk back , you know like we did in the old days

  • #26

Be careful using shaver sockets. They have very poor regulation and can go up to around 280v on very low load such as a phone charger. If your charger is rated 100 to 240v use the 110v socket which on low load is around 130v.

Just for the sake of the thread. The MK module mentioned has 'don't install in a bathroom' in the MI despite the SELV rating.

Found while my electrician was working through my new refurb spec!

interesting, probably due to high moisture levels corroding the internals.
more a warrenty issue than a safety issue I expect.
but if the MI says no then,
it is unsuitable for that use.
